Description
Celestron parabolic Newtonian 150/750mm on equatorial Mount OMNI - CG4 (colour white)
... a powerful and compact allrounder for astronomy
celestron Parabol Newton 150mm 750mm auf parallaktischer Montierung EQ3...the complete scope is on the Celestron CG4 OMNI Mount
The colour of the mount is white

The Celestron Newtonian with 150mm aperture and 750mm focal length is a classic one not only amongst beginners scopes, but also amongst stargazers with some more experience. The image is free of chromatic aberration and bears a high contrast as the insturment does not use any dioptric element, albeit it is so compact with it's tube length being only 67cm.

This instrument is particular versatile.

- The aperture of 150mm shows already thousands of nebulae and galaxies
- The short length makes it very portable
- The Newtonian is rigidly mounted on its Celestron CG4
- The parabolic mirror allows also high magnifications for the moon and the planets, the maximum useful power being about 300x. The parabolic mirror makes this possible.
- Even astrophotographie is possible, with the very fast f/5 optics exposure times are kept reasonable

celestron Parabol Newton 150mm 750mm auf parallaktischer Montierung EQ3 optischer Tubus... the optical tube with tube rings and the 6x30 finder scope.

The most important features:

  • high optical quality: A diffraction limited image is guaranteed
  • stable, precise mount with setting circles and manual slow motion (motors, e.g. to start with astrophotography, can be added .... see recommended accesories)
  • sturdy but height adjustable aluminum tripod
  • ready to use within a few minutes
  • best amount of capabilities for the money
  • manual

Celestron CG4The equatorial mount CG4

The equatorial mount Celestron CG4:

The CG4 mount holds the Newtonian well, as the tube is short enough. This mount comes with a height adjustable steel tripod tripod as standard. A manual slow motion with flexible handles is included as well.

The mount is prepared for astrophotography:

The CG4 has slow motions for azimuth and polar height - important for a precise polar alignment. The mount is ready to accept an optional polar scope as well as the optional attachment of a single- or dual axis drive. All those features are important when it comes to photographical use.

Technical data:

- Aperture 150mm , focal length 750mm , focal ratio f/5
- Parabolic primary mirror to get the optimum in sharpness
- Stellar magnitude limit 13,6 mag
- Resolving power 0,8"
- Focuser 1,25" - metal with fixing screw, T2 connection integrated
- Central marking on the primary mirror - simplifies optical alignment
- Fully adjustable primary and secondary mirrors
- Secondary mirror vanes only 0,5mm thin to suppress diffraction spikes
- Total weight including mount, counterweights and tripod ... 29kg
- Weight of optical tube ... 4,9kg

Included are:

-- Parabolic Newtonian 150/750mm
-- 6x30 finder with quick release attachment
-- superb four-lens 20mm Plössl eyepieces - multi coated (more value than two simple plastic 3-lens cheapies)
-- german-style equatorial mount CG4 with manual slow motion and aluminum field tripod

Useful accessories ....................................... "recommended accessories"

-- the large TS eyepiece kit - an all-in-one solution
-- a perfect wide field eyepiece - the TS SP 32
-- eyepieces for higher / maximum magnification
-- cleaning utensils
-- books, lights
-- adapters for astrophotographie
-- controllers and motors for tracking of the CG4

............................................................................ and much more ... just have a look around !

Practical information from Teleskop-Service: Advantages of a parabolic primary mirror

Vorteile Parabol Newton

Left image:
A spherical mirror, as often used for cheap telescopes, does not focus the light clear to one spot. The result is a blurred image of stars. Also at the moon and the planets no optimum sharpness can be achieved.

Right image:
A good parabolic mirror concentrates all rays in exactly one focal point. The image becomes sharper and of more contrast. The telescope can be built "faster", meaning with shorter focal ratios. This keeps the length down while the high image quality is still preseved.
