Montierung NexStar 4SE

We have often been asked for a compact and lightweight but versatile mount. It should have automatic tracking and GoTo functionality. Teleskop-Service has developed this platform from an existing Celestron telescope set.

Alt-azimuthal and equatorial mode:

Alt-azimuthal mode: Very useful for visual observation. The mount is set up and aligned within a few minutes - your session can start directly. The computerized tracking system keeps all celestial objects inside the field of view.

Equatorial mode: For astro photography. The equatorial setup allows longer integration times without field rotation. The necessary polar alignment is done with the polar wedge integrated in the tripod.

Celestron NexStar Goto SE1

The SE 1 has a useful GP-style dovetail clamp accepting all standard 2" prism rails (Vixen, Celestron, Skywatcher and many more). So these telescopes can be attached directly. Suitable prism rails are found in the "accessories" section.

Sky Align - the easy way to adjust the GoTo system

"Sky Align" is the new alignment procedure by Celestron. It is very user friendly:

Step 1: Enter Date, Time and Location into the control box
Step 2: Point the telescope at three bright celestial objects using the arrow keys (Moon and Planets are also possible). You
don't have to know them - centering is enough!

And you're ready! The NexStar can now point to any object that's chose from the data base as long as it is above the horizon.

Astro photography with the NexStar SE1:

A special advantage of the NexStar SE1 is the possibility of astro photography.

When an alt/azimuthal mount is used (even with a tracking system) for astro photograpy, the exposure times are limited to approx. 30 seconds. Above this value, field rotation occurs. The SE1's tripod has an integrated polar wedge allowing an equatorial setup.

The polar wedge allows using the mount from 20-90° north or south. Of course, the GoTo functionality is the same.

These features turn the SE1 into a powerful and transportable astronomical platform for smaller telescopes or telephoto lenses.

With our TS double mount ("Doppelbefestigung S"), two systems can be used parallel. For instance, a camera with tele lens and a small guiding scope!

Ideal when a compact travel system is needed!

Celestron's NexStar SE1 is always ready for use when only a small amount of space is available - e.g. for hiking, airline travelling etc. You don't need heavy counterweights but you have a complete GoTo system.

Software aided polar alignment for equatorial mode:

- "Wedge-Align" - no polar viewfinder is necessary!
- After the standard star alignment, choose "Wedge align" menue.
- The telescope slews to the point where Polaris should be.
- Now, center the pole star with the Azimuth and Altitude controls of the polar wedge. Ready!
